Although the Catalogue card notes 'Medieval or later', the Period field has been changed to 'Post Medieval' given the similarity of form between this bell and several other crotal bells in the Museum's collection which have secure Post Medieval contexts.

Description (Physical description)
Heavily corroded spherical crotal bell with intact suspension loop. Two holes (one enlarged and also encrusted with ferrous oxide material) in upper half. Sound slot adjoining one hole (the other is filled with corroded material) in lower half. No visible decoration. Inside contains small lump of ferrous oxide material, probable the remains of an iron 'pea'.
