Context (Acquisition Details)
A letter from William Cuttle to Louis Clarke, dated 9 August 1926, is attached to the catalogue card for 1926.334. In it he notes that he has been 'verifying the provenance of the sherds [1926.334-336] which [he] unloaded on [Clarke] in Cambridge about a month ago', specifically references to Léon Rey's publication (1926). The catalogue card notes the sherds were 'collected during the 1926 excavations', presumably the 1926 excavations of Vardaroftsa by W.A. Heurtley and R.W. Hutchinson, of which Cuttle was a member.
