Description

Gilded copper alloy model of a brooch. Comprised of a plate with moulded decoration, with two birds' heads meeting at one end, and settings for garnet or glass; there is a raised dome in the centre of the plate, and a small raised dome at one end of the plate, where the beaks of the birds' heads meet. The pin is preserved beneath.

Bronze copy of square-headed fibula (original in gilded bronze) of 'bird's head type', i.e. two bird's heads in relief, (with sinkings for garnet or glass settings) form the sides of the broad foot-plate. Remains of garnet settings in centre of head-plate and of foot-plate also. Raised, moulded disc on bow, and similar disc, but smaller, forming terminal of foot. Shallow punched ornament on bow
