Flat oval stone tool, possibly a strike-a-light or hone. Roughly oval shaped, with concave sides and flat faces, and a horizontal groove in each flat face. Polished surfaces with some chips.

R.A. Smith, B[ritish] M[useum] G[uide] p 163, Figure 215, figures similar stone from Uppland, Sweden, and says 'it is clear that they were used with iron strike-a-lights for producing fire. They belong to the period 300 - 500 A.D.'

Flat oval stone (quartzite). A broad, shallow groove runs all round (probably for a thong, to attach stone to belt); narrow groove in the two broad faces, about 1.5" long, not quite parallel to the long axis of the stone. Faint traces of iron rust are visible round about these grooves.
