Description

Incomplete copper alloy spectacle fibula. Three flat circular discs, formed by circular-sectioned rods shaped into spiral coils, arranged on either side of a central strip, which forms the bow. Discs are attached to central strip by two flat rectangular-sectioned bands of copper alloy. Spring, pin and catchplate of brooch missing. Green patina.

Part of elaborate fibula formed by a series of flat coils of bronze wire arranged on either side of a central strip, which forms the bow, and attached to it by flat bands of bronze: the central strip was originally produced to form spring, pin and catch plate; these are missing on this specimen.
