Description

Vessel of dark red fabric, possibly a pedestal urn or situla. Reconstructed. The vessel has: a widely splayed pedestal foot; a tall, flared body with a high, angled shoulder; a short, concave neck; an everted rim with a rounded edge. Surface is smoothed and has traces of black painted bands: on the neck, below the shoulder, and at the base of the body.

Context (Field collection)
Grave 1851. Excavated by Josef Szombathy, Naturhistorisches Museum, Vienna in July 1890. According to Teržan et al (1985), 'Graves 1817 to 1876 were originally marked in Szombathy's diary from 1 to 60, but they were later transferred to graves from 1817 to 1876' (p. 403); this was originally numbered Grave 35.
