Context (Related Documents)
Transcribed on the catalogue card for 1927.1627 [but also referring to 1927.1628] is an excerpt from a letter to Dr E.H. Minns from Dr Nandor Fettich, National Museum of Hungary, Budadpest (date unknown): 'I must correct the provenance, for it is not Tamasfalva, but CZIKO in the Komitat Tolna. Will you further allow me to inform you that the two heart-shaped ornaments in the middle (of the card) [1927.1628] do not belong to the find: they were put in with this group by the Hungarian dealer whom I know well. These two pieces should, as this dealer told me a few days ago, come from the Komitat CSONGRAD; but naturally I do not know if he has remembered accurately. The objects from Cziko he obtained from the Hungarian National Museum when I was assistant there; they were duplicates and being in need of money we exchanged these typical (common) pieces for other antiquities. The different objects, therefore, do not always belong together'.
