Description

Copper alloy buckle. Rectangular frame with double-loop, divided by a bar across the rectangular aperture that is now detached at one end. The two long edges are formed of thin rectangular plates, decorated with incised zigzag pattern; with three protruding circular knobs on either side, with a smaller circle inside. The body curves slightly in the middle.

A letter (dated 27/11/1903) from John Baddeley to William Ridgeway says: 'I am now sending a small box containing some beads, iron axeheads and a glass bracelet from Saniba, an Ossetine village a few miles south of Koban. Various dates have been assigned for the grave-find, some BC, some AD. Anyway it is much later than the old Koban.'
