Description
Crucifix in the shape of a Russian orthodox cross, made of copper alloy with enamel inlays and depicting a crucifixion scene. The crucifix is bordered by a decorative band; at the top, a bearded frontal face with a halo is depicted; below, on the upper crossbeam, two cherubs on a green and yellow enamel background are shown above the inscription 'ЦР҃Ь СЛ҃ВЫ' = Царь Славы, Lord of Glory; at each end of the middle crossbeam a face in a circular structure is shown above the inscriptions the central scene shows Jesus on an orthodox cross with spear and pole on a background of blue enamel on top of Calvary hill, reduced to a circular wreath-like rock with a skull in its green enamel centre; above the middle crossbeam the inscription 'ХС҃' = Христос, Christ is visible on the right on dark enamel, while the left side is all covered in dark enamel; at each end of the lower crossbeam, a house on a yellow enamel background is depicted. Back of crucifix left blank.
