Label as follows: "In 1917, 30 km SW of Rustchuk at Biela, British soldiers the grave of a warrior about 7 ft tall. His skeleton was ?preserved. They reported a quantity of gold sheets as having been attached to what had been his clothing (?leather armour) which they rolled up and sold in Salonica. From the grave they brought to London, (i) a solid gold torque from the wrist weighing 7.5 ounces, (ii) a pair of earrings, bronze richly plated with gold, in shape of ram's heads,(iii) 68 gold rings. These rings together with others exactly similar clung round the skull in the shape of a chain-mail cap. The leather having perished, the rings fell apart when touched. (iv) a dozen f and d and e gold staters of Lysimachus of the finest style. The 68 gold rings all have a uniform weight of about 33.5 grains (the heaviest I found weighed 34, the lightest 33 grains). These rings therefore represented current gold quarter-staters" . (signed) C.T. Seltman
