Given by the artist to the Numismatic Society of London and presented by the Society to Evans to mark the fiftieth year of his membership. The presentation is recorded in the proceedings of the Society for 15th June 1899. On the back of the cardis a letter from Randolph Fowler saying " There are copies of this plaque but I do not know how many. The British Museum have one and I believe the Ashmolean also. Perhaps my late father' s dictionary of medallists, a copy of which is doubtless available in Cambridge, would indicate this point. It would be listed under the artist' s name and it might be in the Supplement Volumes. There is no need for you to reply to this letter" Date: 19 Century AD - 1889 AD
