Tinder pouch of natural-coloured cotton [.1], with 'EC' embroidered in red threads. A separate cord of woven cotton for tying closed the opening of the pouch [.2]. Pouch contains two steel strike-a-lights [.3-4], ten square flints [.5-14], and two strips of tinder of orange woven fabric [.15-16].

'These were used by the donor's (Gertrude Strickland, née Corbett] father [Edwin] Corbett many years after matches were in general use (late 19th century) by preference; especially when he was living in Sweden and found that the matches used by most skaters and thrown on the ice after use, caught in skates and caused accidents'. Bracketed note saying 'Bygones'.
