Description

Ring sundial. The months of the year are marked either side of a slit running along the circumference of the ring. Elsewhere the outer surface is inscribed with the initials 'S H W' and scrolled decorative motifs. The inner surface also carries these initials and is marked with various divisions for calculating the time. Broken across its breadth in one place, but still intact.

Description (Inscription)
The outer surface of the dial is inscribed with the initials 'S H W' (possibly those of the object's maker) and the initials of the twelve months on either side of the central slit. The inside surface of the dial is also inscribed with the initials 'S H W', as well as the hours of the day and other marks for calculating the time.

Description (Physical description)
Ring sundial, though broken across its breadth in one place where two perforations for suspension are located. The outer surface is marked with a central circumferential groove, with one section cut through entirely to form a narrow slit. The months of the year are marked either side of this slit. Elsewhere the outer surface is inscribed with the initials 'S H W' and scrolled decorative motifs. The inner surface also carries these initials and is marked with various divisions for calculating the time.
