Description

Copper alloy cauldron, cast in two halves, with tripod feet and a suspended iron handle. The cauldron has: three short legs, each with a triangular cross-section, a collar between the leg and foot, a triangular foot, a central ridge at the top that extends upwards, and two ridges on each side that extend upwards and outwards; a slightly sagging base; a body with slightly tapered sides, two faint flash lines, and several chaplets; two, small, sharply angled, vertical lug handles between the rim and shoulder; an everted rim, slightly externally thickened; a D-shaped handle in two halves, joined centrally by a rivet through circular plates, and attached to the lugs by loops. Two holes at the top of the body repaired with copper alloy plates and lead solder.
