In July 2013 James Hodgson, BA student at the University of Central Lancashire, has identified this as M.J Swanton Type E3 (cf: A Corpus of Pagan Anglo-Saxon Spear-Types. BAR 1974).

Iron spearhead with closed socket. Blade with angular shoulders and central rib; straight, sloping sides and surviving point. Rivet holes through socket.
