Description

Cast copper alloy mace head with integral socket. Integral socket formed from a hollow cylindrical tube, open at both ends; a raised rib collars the mouth of the socket. Head is comprised of three bands of four spikes, spikes of each band offset by ninety degrees from spikes in the adjacent band. Spikes on the upper and lower bands have a sub-triangular cross section, while spikes in the centre band have a lozenge-shaped cross-section; spikes in the central band are longer and show visible wear on their tips.
