Description
Copper alloy square plaque, possibly pax or book cover, with the Crucifixion. Double framed, Christ is attached to cross under two cinquefoiled arches. Christ’s head is inclined slightly towards His right; halo behind His head; right arm broken off and missing. Mary and John are placed the arches, one on each of side of Jesus. Traces of gilding in the background and along the edges. Two perforations in the centre of the top edge. Traces of metal transfer to the reverse, possibly a handle was once attached.
