On the original catalogue card for 1923.1317 (the original card for 1923.1316 is apparently missing), written in Cyril Fox's handwriting, he notes: 'said to have been found together with 1316 in the village of Cawdor in a stone cist in 1882'. Fox adds later: 'Further information will be obtained shortly'. Whether this information was indeed obtained is currently unknown.

Context (Amendments / updates)
This beaker was accessioned as 1923.1316 in the accession register but, due to multiple catalogue cards with slightly differing descriptions, was entered into the CMS as two objects: 1923.1316 A and B. A was listed as a 'food vessel with incised geometric designs' and B as 'beaker'. However, it is clear from the accession register and the multiple publications, that it is only one object. Therefore this record has been amended to remove the suffixes and a fuller description added.
