Hafted axe, with missing blade. Wooden curved shaft, bird and snake decoration in relief, carving outlined in lime. Perforation for fibre tassels on head, towards hafting. Axe would have been secured with plant fibre strips, wrapped around axe head and shaft. Basal open work carving damaged, original repair with use of two-ply-twisted plant fibre in evidence. Plant fibre tassel decoration attached to base of open work, in poor condition.
