Context (Analysis)
A kohl sample taken from this vessel was tested by Hardy and Rollinson, who found the substance was made up of the following compounds: 63% quartz, 24% calcite, 5% galena, 2% anglesite, 2% sphalerite, 2% anhydrite, and 2% gypsum. They believe the calcite comes from the container itself and that the high percentage of quartz is the result of contamination of (local) sand. For more information and analysis, see Bib.
