Context (Field collection)
Found in the Tomb of a Princess and excavated by Jaques de Morgan between the years 1896 to 1899. De Morgan excavated the burials of a number of Princesses at Dahshur, so that it is unclear whether the present piece came from the enclosure of Ammenemes II, Sesostris III or Ammenemes III.

Context (Auction / Sale)
Horace Beck's original catalogue card notes 'MacGreger Collection. Lot 1443'. This suggests that Beck possibly bought this object at the William MacGregor sale held by Sotheby's from June 26th to July 6th, 1922. MacGregor has therefore been added to the Source field as a possible earlier collector.
