Original cataloguer states that the piece is extraordinarily similar to Eskimo women's knife or even the "Pictish" flaying knives, and so cannot help thinking that it is really a knife. I, however, think it not impossible that it is a pendant, given that it shape so much resembles the oyster shell, frequently found worn as such.
Stated to be a "Slate palette for grinding eye paint".
