Context (Amendments / updates)
The 1921 catalogue card for the wooden sickle with flint teeth does not specify the number of teeth, nor in the 1921 list held in the archive, or in Flinders Petrie's unpublished notebook in the Petrie Museum. A later hand annotated the catalogue card to read '5 flint teeth'. The uncertainty is also apparent on the catalogue card for Z 17202, where the sickle is described as containing '5(?) flint sickle blades'. Only 3 blades have been seen, all 'metalized', marked with the idno 1921.593. It is possible that two more are still missing, but it is also feasible that the further two are actually 1921.676 A-B, two sickle blades one of which is 'metalized', perhaps at the same time. The decision has been taken to update the record to reflect the number of blades securely identified as part of 1921.593.
