Glenn Janes, author of The Shabti Collections, examined this shabti in March 2018 as part of a survey of MAA's entire shabti collection, which continued in May 2018. Janes generated a spreadsheet detailing his analysis of the collection, see Doc.417.

This shabti originally had no specific provenance beyond 'Egypt'. Based on parallels in other museums, Glenn Janes identified it as from Western Thebes, Deir el-Bahari, which has been added to the Place field. There are numerous parallels around the world.
