Description (Physical description)
Z 46204.1 [A-E]: 'Nine fragments of schist or soapstone including rims and body sherds. Three with base and body. Probably from 3 different vessels. All are curved and fire blackened on the exterior. There are holes pierced around the rims for suspension. One base sherd also has a hole in it. Original record states that these are fragments of lamp. More likely to be cooking vessels? Also found with this material, 2 bags of ?rock, ?pyrites, ?quartizite, that may have been burnt at some time and has partly ground to dust.'

Context (Amendments / updates)
An undated note in the database states: 'The box in which the objects [Z 46204.1-7] were found was marked "North Ryder Island".' At some point, the material comprising Z 46204.1-7 was removed from that box and placed in one of the boxes containing material from Nuqsarnaq. Z 46204.1-7 was accessioned as being from Nuqsarnaq, from Area N. It is unclear on what basis this decision was taken and the objects themselves are not marked with any identifying information. As such, North Ryder Island has been tentatively added to the Place field, and Thomas Thomson Paterson and the Wordie Arctic Expedition have been tentatively added to the Source field.
