Description

Two-part harpoon head made from ivory, the tip and the body being two separate pieces previously attached to one another with sinew twine; part of socket including one spur broken off and missing. Tip features a blade shelf on one face with a broad, transverse lashing groove on the obverse face; each corner of the lower edge of the tip features a circular perforation with a longitudinal groove beneath it; these correspond to matching lashings holes on the main body of the harpoon head. Main body features a single, transverse line hole; an open socket flanked either side by a single lashing hole and double symmetrical spurs, one broken off and missing.
