Description
Bone of shoulder blade, possibly worked into a paddle or spade. Of roughly triangular shape, the blade edge is curved and the walls taper inwards. The butt end has a deep rounded off groove in the centre, likely for a socketed handle, with five of perforations on each side. On the reverse face is are two round impressions that do not perforate. The butt end is flat, with a small section broken off from one perforation.

The Period was previously given as ‘Eskimo’ and the date recorded as ‘?Recent’. However Graham Rowley noted that ‘all the artifacts I excavated [at Nuqsarnaq] were… in the Thule tradition’ (2007, p 30), and the Period field has been updated accordingly.
