Description

One figurine of ivory in human shape. The head is shown in its basic form with a flat face. The torso is armless and only depicts the chest, the linea alba, and inguinal grooves plastically, on the back the derriere and the spine; the legs each show two transverse grooves, the feet are merely indicated by stubs. Yellow surface coloration.

Context (Amendments / updates)
This collection was previously entered as from '?Southampton Island' and collected by Graham Rowley in 1936. However, they correspond to those excavated by Rowley in 1937 at the site of Avartoq [Akbahtok], Strathcona Sound, drawings of which are in his excavation notebook (XA/1/39/4). The Place field has been updated accordingly.
