Context (Amendments / updates)
This collection was previously entered as from '?Southampton Island' and collected by Graham Rowley in 1936. However, they correspond to those excavated by Rowley in 1937 at the site of Avartoq [Akbahtok], Strathcona Sound, drawings of which are in his excavation notebook (XA/1/39/4). The Place field has been updated accordingly.

Description (Physical description)
One ivory pendant or dice in form of a stylised bird, possibly a gaming piece for tingmiujang. Oval flat base with upper side convex forming the body; long neck and stylised head protruding to one side; one small circular hole on rear end of body. Reddish yellow surface coloration.
