Context (Amendments / updates)
This collection was previously entered as from '?Southampton Island' and collected by Graham Rowley in 1936. However, Z 46183.1-143 corresponds to objects excavated by Rowley in 1937 at the site of Avartoq [Akbahtok], Strathcona Sound, drawings of which are in his excavation notebook (XA/1/39/4). Z 46183.156-160, however, are marked in a different way (A.I) and are not listed in Rowley's Avartoq notebook. They may still be excavated by Rowley, but the site has not yet been identified. Therefore the Place field has been updated to ?Southampton Island; ?Baffin Island and the Field Collection to give the possible excavation dates.
