Description
Ivory ice scratcher, to imitate the sound of seals. Terminating at one end with four triangular prongs; tapering at the other end, and terminating in a slot for a handle, with a perforation through both faces; perforation through both sides near the slot end; two pairs of perforations through the top face, and a pair of perforations through each side, all with two lengths of baleen threaded through.

Context (Amendments / updates)
This collection was previously entered as from '?Southampton Island' and collected by Graham Rowley in 1936. However, they correspond to those excavated by Rowley in 1937 at the site of Avartoq [Akbahtok], Strathcona Sound, drawings of which are in his excavation notebook (XA/1/39/4). The Place field has been updated accordingly.
