Description
Bone tool, possibly a handle, toggle, or part of hunting equipment. Long and flat, with a sublenticular cross-section, split along one side; blade slit at one end, with three perforations, one broken; groove halfway down the shaft; tapering to a blunt point at the other end, with a perforation at the point, notches along both edges of the tapering section, and two rows of four perforations with one perforation in the centre before the taper.

This collection was previously entered as from '?Southampton Island' and collected by Graham Rowley in 1936. However, they correspond to those excavated by Rowley in 1937 at the site of Avartoq [Akbahtok], Strathcona Sound, drawings of which are in his excavation notebook (XA/1/39/4). The Place field has been updated accordingly.
