This collection was previously entered as from '?Southampton Island' and collected by Graham Rowley in 1936. However, they correspond to those excavated by Rowley in 1937 at the site of Avartoq [Akbahtok], Strathcona Sound, drawings of which are in his excavation notebook (XA/1/39/4). The Place field has been updated accordingly.

Baleen box. Oval-shaped; comprised of a flat, wide strip of baleen, curved around with each end overlapping and secured by baleen thread, and a flat, oval base, now detached and delaminating around the edges.
