Description

Two wooden fittings. A is cuboid in shape with central triangular sections cut from its short sides and hemispherical faces; a central perforation that is rectangular on the base with four filled rivets around it. B is possibly an incomplete handle or peg; the shaft is broken off at a perforation, and the butt end has a projection and projects on one side with rounded top.

This collection was previously entered as from '?Southampton Island' and collected by Graham Rowley in 1936. However, they correspond to those excavated by Rowley in 1937 at the site of Avartoq [Akbahtok], Strathcona Sound, drawings of which are in his excavation notebook (XA/1/39/4). The Place field has been updated accordingly.
