Description

Piece of antler worked into a handle. The butt end is flat and round, with a short or broken off tine and the main shaft, long and cylindrical, marked with two long grooves lines across its length. It widens at the opposite end and is curved, with a blade slit and perforation below for lashing.

Context (Amendments / updates)
This collection was previously entered as from '?Southampton Island' and collected by Graham Rowley in 1936. However, they correspond to those excavated by Rowley in 1937 at the site of Avartoq [Akbahtok], Strathcona Sound, drawings of which are in his excavation notebook (XA/1/39/4). The Place field has been updated accordingly.
