Description

Iron shield boss with a small disc apex, convex cone profile with a slightly overhanging carination and concave wall profile. Four unplated iron rivets around the flange; approximately one third of the flange is attached with one small fragment which is detached but present.

Grave group (1988.223-1988.232) found with a skeleton by Chris Montague while metal detecting in August 1987. Retrospectively assigned number Grave 28 by Malim and Hines (1998). Found on the site of Edix Hill (Barrington A) cemetery, which was excavated in the 19th century.
