The catalogue card reads: ''The pits are in a cap of gravel overlying clay situated at Runcton Horne on the east side of the road from there to Downham Market. The Romano British sherds came from the soil above the gravel, and the B.A. sherds from shallow pits in the surface of the gravel' . (Letter from Major Gordon Fowler, 2.XI.31).' Another letter, from the donor dated 17.IX.31 reads: 'The pottery is chiefly found (speaking as it were from the sectional standpoint of the quarry) in small pockets or dips of the topsoil obove the gravel....Pottery has been found all over the area, which is about 300-400 ft. long, by about 150-200 ft. wide.' There is also a sketch diagram of the Beaker on one of the catalogue cards, this record being an amalgam of 2 catalogue cards.
