Description
A ship's carpenter's folding foot rule made of oak. Two long, rectangular lengths of wood with a brass hinge at the centre; small rectangular brass plates at the terminals held in place with rivets; marked along the length with longitudinal grooves and numbers on wood and brass hinge; two small pins slot into holes when folded in half. Two terminal plates missing; hinge is stiff.

The Accession Register and Annual Report give the site where this was dredged up as 'Yarmouth'; this was taken to mean Great Yarmouth, Norfolk when it was entered into the database, but it may be Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. Both have now been recorded in the Place field until this can be clarified.
