Description

Richmond issue copper farthing of Charles I. Obverse depicts two crossed sceptres through a crown with the Latin legend 'CARO : D.G : MAG : BRI' ['Charles, by the grace of God, Great Britain']. Worn, but privy mark is possibly a lion passant. Reverse shows a crowned harp and the continuing legend: 'FRA : ET HIB : REX' ['France and Ireland, King'].

The coin is worn, but it perhaps has a lion passant for its privy mark. This, together with other design features, would suggest the coin is a Richmond Type 2.
