Description

Large shouldered urn of black ware with upright rim and flattened base. Around the neck are nine triangular groups of nine stamps above a raised rope moulding and four deep grooves; above the shoulder are eight small, stamped bosses with large stamps between. Around the shoulder are four large bosses surmounted by standing arches and a band of stamps, and alternating with sets of three vertical ribs with diagonal and vertical groove decoration. Four stamp types used. Reconstructed with infill.

Description (CMS Description)
Large globular urn of black ware. High neck, with plain, upright rim. Nine groups of stamps arranged in triangular form at base of neck, which is encircled by a raised " rope" moulding. Four parallel grooves below this moulding, below which are eight pronounced knobs, joined by a row of stamp design. Shoulder is ornamented with four large bosses (hot cross bun) alternating with four groups of three vertical ribs. Semi circle of stamp ornament above each large boss.
