Context (Analysis)
Unsigned handwritten note found with object reads: 'Fragment of silver finger-ring with objects from Soham Grave 9 (Z 16181) probably actually belongs to Grave 7 (Z 16180). Lethbridge (1951) mentions a bronze finger-ring (closed, undecorated band) on part of Grave 7 . The corrosion product on the inside surface of this ring may have led him to think, erroneously, that it is of bronze. Files of University Museum, Cambridge, list a silver finger- ring in Grave 7, but record no finger-ring at all in Grave 9.'
