Description
Beaker, A-type, fine ware, black in fracture, with buff surface, slightly burnished and with uneven reddish patches; simple notched decoration, consisting of 4 zones, evenly spaced, each made up of short vertical notched lines enclosed by 2 or 3 bands of horizontal notched lines; and a band of notched lattice pattern.

The catalogue card says: "The site of the find is marked on the Museum copy of O.S. 6" XXXVI Cambs." also marked "d.d.", but no donor is named. Found in Chippenham Park. No details of grave. Found by donor. The beaker and skeleton were found during military excavations, and no observations were made of the type of grave etc.; but the two officers who brought them in were positive that the skeleton had been in a crouched position. O.S. XXXVI S.E.
