Iron key, with oval bow, moulded collar on hollow cylindrical stem, bit comprising of rectangular ward with four very small notches on the lower edge of the bit, and one rectangular hole on the upper edge of the inner side of the bit.

Handwritten label attached to object: 'From Charles Lucas, Burwell, Cambs Feb 27/32' on one side and 'The old Silver Gilt Key of the Pyx. Found in 1845 in a saw pit in the chancel ruin of Reach Church. A grave or vault near the alter was probably utilised for the sawing purpose.' on the other.
