Description
Seventy-one sherds from a large storage jar, consisting of nine handle sherds, five rim sherds with three of the handles attached, and sixty-one body sherds. The jar incorporates a clubbed rim with strap handles attached. Made up of Thetford ware with a grey sandy core and slightly darker grey exterior. Decoration includes applied thumb strips around the top of the rim and ridge, ribbed handles, raised vertical and overlapping ribs of around the body with stamped circles.

Although the donor is listed as J.G. Hurst in the Accession Register for Z 16320, this may be a mistake based on Hurst borrowing and then returning the pot, only after which was the Z number assigned to the object. Therefore the Source field has been left blank and the details about the provenance of this pot remain unknown.
