'There are old manuscript labels attached to these artefacts. Both have the name "Prof.Haddon" and "above 600 ft O.D." on the labels. The larger one reads "1.Stanstead from pit.1902 Double notched scraper"; the smaller one reads "2.Stanstead from pit Notched scraper Round stee???" Written on the smaller artefact are the number 33 and the words:"Pit Parsonage ?Farm OCT 24 1902'. On the larger artefact is written: [illegible] Oct 24 1902 with two arrows and another illegible marking - possibly the number '41' or '42' or the letter 'E'. The word 'Pit' is written on the other side of this object.
