Context (Analysis)
The catalogue card description for this crucible suggests that it is made of fired clay. However, in the accession register, the crucible is described as being made of stone. I believe that the latter interpretation is correct; the crucible appears to be made of a dark grey schist, possibly containing graphite, with clay and gravel encrusted on the outer surface. The Material field has been updated accordingly.
