Description

Pair of cast copper alloy girdle hangers (.1-2) with copper alloy arc from suspension device (.3). Both girdle hangers have a flat shank of rectangular cross section with zoomorphic decoration on upper shank; the attachment ring is formed at 90° to the shank. Each has a flat distal terminal with terminal hooks at right angles, and sloping terminal bars; the terminals are decorated with punchmarks. The terminal of (.2) is detached but present, having a crescentic projection. The terminal of (.1) has a bifurcated crescentic projection. The arc is U-shaped and decorated on the outer face with punchmarks; corrosion product from iron bar through both attachment rings and either end of the arc.

Description (Physical description)
Pair of girdle hangers joined with an arch of bronze to which the heads of each hanger had been riveted with iron pins. Both hangers have head moulding near the junction with ring. The key ends are joined to the stem and a crescentic and a two lobe projection extends from the foot. The arch is decorated along the outer edges with engraved scollops. Two lobe projections, one has zig zag and one scollop engraving round the edge
