Description
Large gilt bronze square headed brooch showing Kentish influence. Very well made and shows chip carved spinal and zoomorphic design. Square head has openwork edge made up of eye pattern and tendrils combined. Rectangular plate has debased zoomorphic design combined with spirals. Panelled boss. Down biting heads below bow. Three lobes. Side lobes have zoomorphic pattern. Foot medallion has an embossed mask which is repeated at both ends of bow. Diamond on foot filled with tendril design.
