Context (Acquisition Details)
Acquired by the Cambridge Antiquarian Society in 1852-1853. The 1853 Report reads: 'A knife, &c., found in a disused recess and under a floor at Corpus Christi College. See "Communications".' The comb isn't listed specifically, so presumably falls under the heading of 'etc.'.

Context (Field collection)
The catalogue card has the following entries: "Elizabethan Find" and "See note in C.A.S. Accession Book"
Found: Under floor of Shoemaker' s Room in 1852
Date: Elizabeth I
'After researching this and associated objects, suggest that 1883.692 A-F were found under the floor of the room known as the 'Shoe-maker's Room' in the Old Court of Corpus Christi College, and that 1883.692 (comb) and 1983.692 G (wood carvings) were found in a small cupboard in the Old Court with the leather objects in 1852. The Accession Register entry wrongly states the origin as Christ's College. Note with record clearly states find location as Corpus Christi College. All objects now classified as Archaeology and index cards stored together in Arch. files. J.Somerville 2/09/02.'
