Context (Field collection)
This was found built into the E Wall of the old Chapel of St.John' s College when it was demolished by Scott, and is believed to be a sketch for the original E Window of c.1280.

Context (Acquisition Details)
This carving was in the museum's collection by 1897, when T.D. Atkinson and J.W. Clark mention it in their book. It is possible that it was acquired at the same time as other material St John's College (1889.151), in 1889.
